Jumper knitting course at Wrington Chapel starting November7th 7-9 pm fortnightly
A 3 part course spanning 6 hours held at Wrington chapel. Tuesday November 7 th . Tuesday November 21 th and Tuesday December 5 th 7-9 pm plus any out of class help that’s needed. In this course we will be knitting Ashley Lillis free pattern "Fall Bluff sweater". This jumper is made all in one with no seaming. It is made with super chunky yarn and 9mm circular needles. Don't panic! These circulars can be knit continuously, with no need for magic loop. I will guide you every step of the way.
Lesson 1 - You will be given your pattern. We will be looking in depth at how to read your pattern. We will go over how to choose a yarn, explaining positive ease and how to choose your size. Choosing a yarn to fit a pattern is a skill in itself , and I will teach you everything you need to know about how to do that in the first class.
YOU WILL NOT BE BUYING ANY YARN UNTIL AFTER LESSON 1! :)
PLEASE ALSO NOTE you will not be asked to measure yourself, or disclose your measurements at any point. Your measurements and calculations are done at home and it is not necessary to disclose them.
We will also go over some of the stitches in the pattern, the long tail cast on and how to cast off a rib edge. Nothing difficult, just a refresh.
Lesson 2 - We will learn how to use stitch markers to construct a raglan increase for the chest and arms, and how to continue down the body.
Lesson 3 - The third lesson we will learn how to pick up stitches to construct the arms. You do not have to have finished knitting to body to be able to move on to this part so please don't stress yourself out about time restraints and finishing in time. I will also teach you my absolute favourite bind off, the Italian sewn bind off , in case some of you want to challenge yourself for a super neat edge :)
I am so excited for this course, it has taken a lot of planning and I am looking forward to opening up the world of jumpers to you! This course is ONLY open to my regular Tuesday night students for now. I will be holding another open to all, later in the year
PLEASE NOTE - The course cost is for the tuition only, yarn and needles are not included. The yarn can cost as little as £20 for the whole jumper if using Stylecraft 100% acrylic and needles as little as £4 each (you'll need 2). If your budget allows then the sky is the limit as far as yarn goes but on average anything between £30-£70 for a natural fibre wool yarn. I will bring the two examples to lesson 1 so that you can make a more educated decision.
