This workshop is held by Naomi, and is aimed at complete beginners . Cadbury alpaca owner, Charlotte Brockwell, will start the workshop with a short talk on the farm, her vision, Alpaca husbandry, and fleece to yarn production. Afterwards, at 3.30 pm, Naomi will teach her hugely popular “learn to crochet workshop” in the round house outside next to the Alpaca field. Students will learn how to make a chain and then the basic stitches . The alpaca herd will be in the field next to the workshop so you can even go to see them over the fence to say hello. There are Cria too at the moment! (baby alpaca) .
After your workshop, all students are invited to join my private Facebook group, exclusively for Naomi & Noah students, where I share a wealth of free, beginner knitting and crochet patterns specifically chosen for your standard, so that you can progress on your crochet journey. You will also receive handouts with diagrams and instructions, video tutorials via email of everything we covered and much more. I offer free of charge help and advice via email for all of my students out of class . This is the first crochet workshop of the beginner set of 4, you will have the opportunity to progress to granny squares and Amigurumi. The workshop is held in one of the outside buildings, so please dress accordingly with sensible footwear and clothing prepared for a wonderful, rustic experience
Charlotte says:
“Currently we have over 30 alpacas and 1 llama. The vision of the farm is to promote and establish an ethical, cruelty free and sustainable fibre industry in the U.K. We’ve been farming hyuacapa and suri alpacas for 12 years. Our journey started in 2012, when we bought 3 female yearling alpacas (Molly, Daisy and Sorrell) for our small paddock as family-friendly pets and fluffy lawnmowers rolled into one. That was it …we were completely hooked! Fibre farming is not currently a recognised industry in the UK, only food producers are credited with government subsidies. Society is starting to consider where our food originates, but it’s time for us to think about where our clothes come from.
Alpaca is one of the most luxurious, environmentally friendly fibres with incredible thermo regulating properties, biodegradable, moisture wicking, hypo allergenic, lightweight, fire retardant and self cleaning.
We breed alpacas, offer interactive experiences, produce alpaca yarn, bedding, socks & accessories, toys, soap, gifts and much more. “
